Dear Concerned Parent

Dr. Debra Jackson brought to my attention the letter sent out by Mr. Joe DiGrazia and Mrs. Sarah Fay regarding a $50 participation fee for the Fox Lane Middle School Cabaret.

Mr. DiGrazia and Mrs, Fay should have given me that correspondence to approve before sending it out to the students and their families. It is against educational policy to charge a participation fee for school activities. They will refund any money sent to them, and will not ask for such a fee in the future.

Bedford does indeed support public education and the performing arts in particular with a very high budget. We are fortunate to offer the level of programs we have, and will certainly not burden the taxpayers by asking for more funds for these programs.
