062097Respect Day: at risk is the safety and morals of minors To the Editor: Mr. Kraemer, Fox Lane High School principal, left the "careful reader" with several false impressions from Respect Day. I did not bring a video camera. Nor did I refuse to leave until "threatened with police involvement." The Gannett reporter and I left without incident whatsoever. Mr. Kraemer made it clear that he would not allow any observation. That I "grossly misrepresented" the Urban League is simply not supported with fact. What did the "careful reader" miss? Void of fact, as well, are his claims of the day's educational value. I not only question the Respect Day's value but its permissibility. Why are academic classes canceled for demonstrations in the latest exercise equipment, religious indoctrination, tours in "guided imagery" and "visualization," Planned Parenthood pillow talk and the overall eliciting of "personal and sensitive',' information from children by strangers? Is this not another day of direct marketing in school by the local mental health merchants? Some of these activities risk the safety and morals of minors, a crime in New York State. Though false, malicious, injurious accusations persist, I will continue to legitimately question illegitimate "education." Respect, after all, should esteem the truth.
