111695Minutes of WPESA Meeting on November 16, 1995 TREASURER'S REPORT - Gift Wrap generated almost .$1,1,000 in profits. Our estimated cash balances as of today are $29,200 in checking and $12,600 in savings. Sandi explained that this may look like a lot of money, but we will only generate $3000-$4000 in profits from future fund raisers this year. After we purchase the computer, there should be an estimated $10,000 for future spending. GIFT WRAP - Jeanne Goldman asks everyone who hasn't already picked.up their order, to please do so as soon as possible. The boxes are still in the Girls' Lockerroom. 25th ANNIVERSARY - Mrs. Heiman said that both the adult and the children events were very successful. She felt the experience reinforced West Patent's initial commitment to multi-age grouping. She thanked WPESA for its support. Toni Glanzer also thanked everyone for their support, especially with the generous food donations. DIRECTORY - Susan Groarke extended special thanks to Gail and Steve Gruskin for all their hard work. ENRICHMENT - Happy Holidays will. be coming on December 12. There will be Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa displays. The District's School Board decided schools could display Christmas trees and Menorahs. All other decorations should be student generated. COMPACT FOR LEARNING - Amy Galloway referred to a negative Reporter Dispatch article on site-based decision making teams. She assured us that WPES's team is making decisions. The team recently evaluated where they stood in terms of decisions and goals. There is still an inside search going on for a community representative. They are looking for a person with strong ties to the local business community. The team will be exploring space issues in the upcoming months. COUPON BOOKS - Sale of books extended until the end of November. BOOK FAIR - still going on will report on next month. PURCHASE OF COMPUTER - Motion to place computer station in the library rather than a separate office was carried. This would- enable easier supervision by the librarian. Tina Lang is looking into-top of the line systems that will last. There is a definite need for a high qualtity printer. The purchasing of a scanner and camera are still undecided. It was agreed that this computer system will be for both parent use as a publishing center and student use as a media center. Tina is in the process of meeting with Brian Messier to purchase a MAC computer. Estimated cost should be around $7000-8000, but could be more. FALL FAIR - Special thanks were given to Cindy Greenberg! I TURKEYS - Need turkeys for Holiday baskets to be put together around December 5. Contact Toni Glanzer.
