062604 Vote for Peter Breslin, Cheryl Schwartz in K-L board election Katonah-Lewisboro School District To the Editor: At the candidate's forum June 16, two candidates demonstrated the expertise and the experience that will greatly assist the BOE through the next three years: Peter Breslin and Cheryl Schwartz. Both candidates answered each question in the time allotted and clearly articulated their positions and goals with supporting details. They both expressed an interest in resurrecting the legislative action committee to lobby Albany for relief from unfunded mandates, and to repeal the Wicks Law. Peter Breslin designs and administers employee compensation and benefits plans for businesses. With 25 years in the field, his knowledge will be of great value as the board negotiates contracts with the school administrators (ongoing now) and with the teachers (2005). Peter, a man of integrity, possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Having attended most BOE meetings the past two years, he is familiar with the issues facing our district, and if elected would hit the ground running. Cheryl Schwartz brings a wealth of experience and ability. Having served on the BOE for six years (1993-99), she assisted in gaining widespread support for the first facilities bond, working collaboratively with the community. Under her leadership, as president, the project, was completed on time and on budget. She also helped to negotiate changes in the teacher's contract, which led to significant cost savings for the taxpayers. We urge you to join us in voting for experience, expertise, and integrity on July 6; vote for Peter Breslin and Cheryl Schwartz. |
